Sudanese club Al Merrikh have lodged a complaint with Caf over Pitso Mosimane’s ‘unjust’ role in the Caf Champions League draw which saw the club drawn against Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns.
The Sudanese club have revealed through the club’s vice-president Adel Abugreisha that they have filed a complaint to CAF over Pitso Mosimane.
The 16-time Sudan Premier League Champions were drawn in the group of deat alongside Ahly and Mosimane’s former side Sundowns.
Al Merrikh, however, feel aggrieved by the fact that ‘Jingles’ was selected by the continent’s football governing body to conduct the CAF Champions League group stage draw.
According to Abugreisha, the fact that Mosimane is one of the 16 competing coaches has brought about a conflict of interest by participating in the draw.
“For the first time, one of the coaches of the 16 participating teams that qualified for the Champions League was involved in the draw.” Abugreisha told Al-Hayah TV, as per KingFut.
“We lodged a protest to the Confederation of African Football, through an official letter, through President Hazem Mostafa, because of Mosimane picking the teams in the Champions League draw, and we have not received a response from CAF so far.
“This has nothing to do with our relationship with the clubs, the matter is for the Confederation of African Football, Mosimane was an opponent and a referee in the draw, and this happened for the first time. It’s unjust for the Al Ahly coach to take part in the draw,” he added.
